The year was 1818, the State of Indiana was only 2 years old, and Corydon Indiana was the state capital. James Monroe was the President, and in honor of the president, Monroe County was established. Just two years later a solid brick stagecoach stop was built along the main road heading north out of Corydon. This stagecoach stop is now 3615 E Post Road, nestled in the Grandview Hills Subdivision and holds historical significance as a stop on the underground railroad.
